I had the great experience of being an attendant for a school board in Montreal. The experience prior to my university years has done nothing but enrich and intensify my passion for becoming a teacher. It was so touching to receive an appreciation card at the end of the school year. It was heartwarming. It confirms that you picked the right life calling. Not only was I given the opportunity to evaluate a student, yet I was given the chance for form an unbreakable bond. A line of authority is an important distinction however there is still room to create a trusting and caring relationship.
My passion for working with kids is constantly confirmed by my peers and superiors. Having said that, it is always touching to know that you have truly gotten through to a student and they are/or we're grateful for your help. It takes a great deal of time and effort to form a bond with them. Open communication is an important aspect of the relationship in order for them to feel safe.
Competency 11: commit to own professional development and to the profession.
The commitment to becoming a teacher goes beyond what most are prepared for. As a teacher you are being given the torch to take part in fostering an educational environment that will ultimately help children learn and succeed. As a teacher you seek to give your very best self in order to help students achieve all their goals and to keep moving up in life. I included a picture of my "first" desk and my own personalized teacher sign as it signifies to myself the start of a lifelong commitment.
Competency 13: act in accordance with the ethical principles of the profession. I believe the competency is relevant here as my desk and my personalized teacher name sign is the door to my teaching career. To be able to embark on that journey one must make the conscious decision to continuously act within the ethical principles of the profession. I believe it is a teachers obligation to understand that every student is unique and different to one another. Given this, it is important to create learning and teaching material that is differentiated and diverse in order to maximize learning for all.
My very first evaluation creation. (Competency 4)
I have had the chance in my third field experience to take over over the science class and create a bank of personalized resources.
I decided to showcase this artifact as I am proud to have produced a piece of work that has now been contributed to students learning and evaluations.
